1) To find why the engine won't start, remove the air inlet tube from the throttle body, push the throttle open and spray a small amount of aerosol starting fluid into the engine. Crank the engine. If it has spark and compression but NO FUEL, it will start and run a few seconds before dying.

That is something that happens over time. Spark and fuel left. Get a spark tester and test to see if you have spark at the plug. Or you can pull one of the spark plugs out, leave the boot on, and have someone crank the car over and see if there is spark. For fuel, just check the fuses and fuel pump relay. Possible someone shimmed the valve and lost parts-- COMMON. Pull the "U" hose from the fuel rail-- plug the hose. Connect a hose to the nipple on the fuel rail. Crank the engine--- any fuel coming out of the fuel rail nipple -- the FPRV is leaking fuel-- IT WILL NEVER START.
